I have a plain text file (space or comma delimited). How can I use webfocus to read it in and output as excel?

Thanks a lot!

You can import a space or comma delimited file directly into excel ... without WF.

You need to generate metadata from the reporting server console for the comma or space delimited file. Then you can report in any format of your choosing.

Thanks,
Sayed

I'm with dhagen - forget about WF on this one - why make it more complicated than it is? Just use Excel's import functionality.

What I think needs to be understood is where is the text file.

If it is accessible from excel directly, then I agree with dhagen and Darin, if not then Sayed suggestion is the way to go.

The text files will be generated automatically on the NAS server. I would like to use Webfocus to convert it to Execel automatically and maybe generate excel graphics reports too.

Anyone have a sample codes for this?

Thanks!

You have to manually create a master (MFD). Then if you are wanting to do Excel graphics you need to create a template. You may have to tweak your master every time the file is created because of field size changes. Avoid using WebFocus with csv files if you can. Text files are a little better because they are less likely to change field size, but you still have to manually create the master.
