Seems I'm having a senior moment.

How do you HOLD a graph as HTML but get an image and HTL stored, not an APPLET in the HTML.

This is to be added to more HTML and returned later in the fex with -HTMLFORM.

Yes, as far as i know jschart is a WF8 thing and forward.

Try this, we used to do it for pdf and html outputs:

ON GRAPH HOLD AS GRAPH1 FORMAT HTMLTABLE

And then call the graph using !ibi.fil.graph1

You can also try 'HTMTABLE' too. If you have drilldowns off this graph there are ways around that too as these formats get weird with them.

We are trying to avoid JSCHART for mobile devices, looks like it chews up memory and resources.

We need to the chart to be an image with the HTML page.

HTMLTABLE

This is not supported anymore.

Tried HTML and HTMTABLE and it always generates an html page with an APPLET with we do not want.

There is a setting or something, but cant remember what it is. Two of us here can remember getting the html/image back, not the code.

ohw... sorry, Yes WF8 thing.

BTW, if it's chewing up resources is probably because WF things the client doesn't support HTML5 and sends a ActiveX control ( applet? ) to display the graph...

...which is a lot of overhead. Both in data and local rendering resources.

Greets,
Dave

Huh that's odd, they must still allow it because we have a few reports that still use it.

It's a long shot but can you grab the data in xml or alpha format and use highcharts or something? I know jschart format renders the objects with the data in it automatically in the html so you could potentially do something like that.

Either way i'm curious to know what that setting is, i've never seen it.

Looks like we worked it out.

The WebFOCUS server returns an HTML page with an APPLET, but the client does "Magic" and out the other end you get an HTML page with MAP and embedded image.

Just waiting for IBI to confirm this is as expected.

These are the perils of testing only in the WebFOCUS server
