Hi,
I would like to know how to connect to Oracle database
using the same technique as MSSQL06 for MS SQL.
Regards
JF

You have to be joking.

But if you are serious then for Focus Six you need a 16 bit Oracle client
Probably 7.something that almost certainly will not run on XP.

I do not think that Focus Six was officially supported on that platform either
Because it’s 32bit

I very much doubt that you’ll manage to find the client you need nowadays and it’s going to be
Very specific as to which versions of Oracle it can access.

Focus Six was de-supported at the end of the last century.

That's no joke and your response is no use to me.
( even if it make me painfully smile ! )
It works fine with MS-SQL and this junk library :

What version of Oracle is it ?

My suggestion is to go look at Oracle sites, and see if there is a driver/client for your version.

If its new, I don't like your chances.

If you find a solution, please let us know.

I'm afraid that you are totally out of luck.

For FOCUS Six you need a 16 bit Oracle client which means going back to a 7.3 version of Oracle.

A 7.3 client can not talk to a Oracle 10 DB. Minimum usable client would be 8.2 which is not available as 16 bit

The 7.3 client does not work on XP.

One possible solution is available.

That is to install the Oracle transparent gateway on the MSSQL server machine and create a DBLINK
in MSSQl to the required Oracle tables.

You can then use your existing MSSQL connection. Be warned performace sucks.
