I think I may have found a flaw in 5.3's MFD creation process. Basically, I have a dataset pointing to a specific directory. If I change the directory to look for the same exact file, it will keep looking in the old directory. I literally had to create a new MFD with the new directory to get WebFOCUS to point to the new location. Has anyone run into this before and do you know if this has to do with our version of Developer/WebFOCUS? Thanks!This message has been edited. Last edited by: gregson06, | ||

Are you caching metadata? This is something that became available in sometime around the 5.3.x timeframe but I never looked too deep into it. Sounds like something that would cause your problem. The purpose was to prevent the client from having to go back and reread and parse the MFD with every request. It loads it once and keeps it in memory for a specified period. Ring any bells? You could probably get info by searching for metadata cache in Techsupport. while cache is most likely the culprit - make sure your path reflects the directory you want to go to first. e.g. master 'a' in dir.'1' and also in dir.'2' - make sure your path has dir '2' listed first if that is where you want to go. aix-533,websphere 5.1.1,apache-2.0, wf 538(d), 537 (p), ============== 7.6.11 (t) aix 5312 websphere 6.1.19 apache 2.0 | |||

Ira, The paths in the master are pointing in the correct directory, which is why a flag came up when I tried updating the MFD with a new path. At first I thought maybe I was putting the file in the wrong domain but all the other MFD's are working correctly and there is only one instance of this file there. is there a .acx file involved? i don't see where you say exactly what type of file you're reading with your mfd.

Sorry, haven't had time to reply to these posts, but no, there is no .acx file involved. Literally when I create an MFD that's the only file that gets created. But this is not an issue anymore since the reports started working with the creation of a new MFD with the new file name/path. I have not been able to troubleshoot as much as I'd like but the data is sound so far. Thanks! | |||
