We have some reports which are really just data dumps that can be very large (like 100,000 records by 200 columns) that create, even with XLSX or EXL07 formats in WF8, files too large to transfer.

The Excel binary format (XLSB) on the other hand is much more compact. I figure the answer to my question is no, since binary is not an accepted web format like XML is, but I have users asking, so I wanted to get a definitive answer.

Since I haven't seen any replies to this, I went ahead an opened up a case for it:

Answer: there is no official XLSB format option. While you can put
 PCHOLD FORMAT XLSB
you will still just get a .xlsx file as output.

I'm marking this as closed, but will follow up with the case to see about turning it into a new feature request.
