What I'm trying to do is create a subtotal row but I'm using MAX. in the table call and the subtotal row is adding up all the values in that field. What I want to see is just the MAX of that field in the subtotal.

I have tried RECAP but this does not work since it makes the report too long. I was also thinking of appending a table to the report that has the summaried results but there has to be a better way then doing this. Any ideas or help would be great.

Here is a sample of what I'm doing:

TABLE FILE table1
SUM
field1
MAX.field2

COMPUTE field3/D7.2 = field1 * MAX.field2;

BY field4
BY field5

END

I don't know why RECAP would make the report any bigger. This should work.

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM MAX.DCOST NOPRINT
BY COUNTRY
SUM RCOST MAX.DCOST
COMPUTE DIFF/D8 = RCOST - MAX.DCOST;
BY COUNTRY
ON COUNTRY RECAP MAXD/D6 = C1;NOPRINT
ON COUNTRY SUBFOOT
""
BY CAR
END

WFUSER's reply is correct except the easiest
way to display the value.. is ..
ON COUNTRY RECAP MAXD=C1 ;
ON COUNTRY SUBFOOT
" MAX IS
The RECAP when displayed in a SUBFOOT automatically supresses itsdefault display.
