In 8105 can you somehow create an option to give to the users to remove customizations?

We have a portal, which after migration to prod hangs for users that have already accessed the earlier version of the portal before. Somehow a CUSTOM# (where # is a number given to this page) gets created. And when you try to run the newly migrated portal, it hangs. Only way to get it to work is by removing customization.

Strange behavior.. don't know where this Custom# (in my case Custom13) is created.

Any thoughts on how to add the remove customization for the user without walking them thru a manual Remove.. We cannot have users going to the BIP area to do the remove.

Hello,

Is this something that happens repeatedly to your users, or only the first time they try to access a post-migration portal?

To answer your actual question, you could create a second portal containing a Resource Tree that only displays the portals. They could run a Remove Customizations from there without being granted access to the main BI Portal.

You might also want to open a Tech Support case for this so we can identify why this is happening to you.

CTM2015,

The only way to remove customizations for a basic/tradtional portal in 8.1.xx is by using the right-click option "Remove Customizations" in the BIP welcome page on the portal in question. Whether that does it just for your login or for all logins, I actually am unsure of. Although, in 8.2.xx, I have learned that each user will now have the option to remove their own customizations in portal, and admins can now remove all customizations for all users, etc. as well via the BIP Welcome page. You may have to update to 8.2.xx before getting that to work sadly enough.

I never thought of removing customizations via a resource tree within a portal yet. Good call Emily! Will have to test that one out.

8.2.02M (production), 8.2.02M (test), Windows 10, all outputs.

Hi Emily,

Resource tree is not possible. But thank you for the idea.. will keep in mind

It seems like the issue is post migration access. After the first migration, and having an issue with this "Custom13" page showing up, I went to the BIP welcome screen and cleared customizations (not sure what these customizations were on my portal view). I was fine.. then we did another migration thinking there was an issue with the first migration.. and the Custom13 was now Custom14 and I got the hanging portal again. Now it is all working again with a time migration.
The only difference with the migrations was the last time was 1 CM package.. the first 2 were multiple packages. Does that make a difference?
