I have a Tab Control with two tabs - Summary and Detail. I have an iframe in the Summary tab that contains a WF AHTML report with drilldowns. I would like to set the target of these drilldowns to an empty iframe in the Detail tab. Since the interaction is between iframes, I thought I must use parent.parent.iframename, but that does not seem to work. Any ideas?

(To complicate things, there is a limit of 15 for the target name, which. if parent.parent does eventually work, means the iframe name must be 1 character.)

Solved!

I discovered something new, and it's actually documented, albeit lightly...

I now use format AHTMLTAB and !IBI.OBJ.ACTIVEREPORTJS;

Documented in Creating Reports With WebFOCUS Language > Saving and Reusing Your Report Output > Choosing Output File Formats > FORMAT AHTMLTAB.

With this, I can drilldown via a JavaScript function and target the output to go to the other tab instead of a new window.

function runReport(MY_KEY)
{
var ReportURL = '/ibi_apps/WFServlet?IBIF_webapp=/ibi_apps&|IBIWF_msgviewer=OFF&|&|IBIMR_drill=X,apple001/apple001.htm&|IBIF_ex=app/detail_report&|CLICKED_ON=&|MY_KEY=' + MY_KEY;

// Construct the Report window's specs
var windowSpecs = "location=no, menubar=no, status=yes, titlebar=no, toolbar=no";

// Display Detail Report tab and set focus on it
parent.parent.IbComposer_showHtmlElement('tabDetail', true);

//parent.parent.IbComposer_selectTab('tabDetail', 3); // this does not work
parent.parent.document.getElementById('tabDetail').click();

// Run the drilldown URL
parent.parent.frmReportDetail.location = ReportURL;
}
