I am using !IBI.FIL.reportname to embed an HTML report within an HMTL webpage (-HTMLFORM).

When I do a view source, I see that each row is breaking at the 511th column.

How can I increase this limit?

I know that this 'line breaking' doesn't typically effect what is rendered in the browser, except that in my case it sometimes breaks in the middle of a HTML tag, that I am inserting into my output field.

As far as I am aware, the -HTMLFORM is innocent, the ON TABLE HOLD FORMAT HTML is guilty.

This is a HOLD LRECL limitation that cannot be overridden. Have been there before but as yet have no real solution.

It's an annoying problem that has been reported to IBI. I don't recall which version it's fixed in, if it's fixed.

Meanwhile, the PERL script shown here, [CLOSED] PCHOLD FORMAT COMMA - Need to remove CRLF at the end of the line. works well.

@Alan - Thank you so much for clarifying my issue. It makes sense that the issue occurs at the time of the HOLD file creation, rather then at the time of the HTML insertion, as I was originally thinking. I've updated the thread title accordingly.

@Francis - Thank you for the thread reference. The post-processing of the file, described there, makes sense. Thanks also for letting me know that there is a chance that IB has addressed this limitation. I've opened a case to see if this limitation can be raised in the later/newer releases.

David,

You may wish to reference the case I opened, 83322540. I opened this on 2012/11/27 for WF v7.7.03 Gen: 140.

The last Tech Support comment on this case was added on 2014/03/18: "I have verified that this occurs in v7.7.05 gen 55 and gen 144."

I just tested in WF v8.0.08 and the issue still exists. I can only assume that this problem has been forgotten by IBI.

The sample fex I created for the case:

APP HOLDDATA BASEAPP
-RUN

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
COMPUTE HYPERLINK1/A600 =
'<A onmouseover="window.status=''ThisIsATestThisIsATestThisIsATestThisIsATestThisIsATestThisIsATestThisIsATestThisIsATestThisIsATest'';return true;" onmouseout="window.status='''';return true;" href="#" onClick="location=''http://www.google.ca/search?q=' || COUNTRY || '''; return false;" target="_blank">HyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestForHyperlinkTestFor ' | COUNTRY | '</A>'; AS ''

BY COUNTRY NOPRINT

ON TABLE HOLD AS H001 FORMAT HTML
END

Thanks Francis!

I've added your case number to my case, for IB to reference.

Here is another example of the issue. This example shows the rogue CRLF at column 511 breaking up the HREF parm of an anchor tag, and hence breaking the link:
-* File bug511.fex
APP PREPENDPATH IBISAMP
-*
DEFINE FILE GGSALES
 DUMMY1/A472    = ' ';
 DUMMY2/A472    = STRREP(472, DUMMY1, 1, ' ', 1, '=', 472, 'A472');
 BADLINK/A1000  = DUMMY2 | ' <BR> ' | '<a href="http://www.ibi.com">Visit ibi.com!</a> ';
 GOODLINK/A1000 = '<a href="http://www.ibi.com">Visit ibi.com!</a> ';
END
TABLE FILE GGSALES
PRINT BADLINK AS 'This link is broken:'
OVER GOODLINK AS 'This link is ok:'
IF SEQ_NO EQ 1
ON TABLE HOLD FORMAT HTML
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
 TYPE=REPORT, SIZE=12,     FONT='ARIAL', GRID=OFF, $
 TYPE=TITLE,  COLOR='RED', STYLE='BOLD',$
ENDSTYLE
END
-RUN
-HTMLFORM BEGIN
!IBI.FIL.HOLD;
-HTMLFORM END
