[Solved]Maintain: Field defaults to a period when page loads
What causes a period, or any character for that matter, to default into a field when a page loads within a maintain application? I have a page with four fields on it. When the page loads three of the fields have periods in them. Here is the master file for the fields displayed:

FILENAME=BOOKS, SUFFIX=SQLMSS  , $
  SEGMENT=BOOKS, SEGTYPE=S0, $
    FIELDNAME=ID, ALIAS=ID, USAGE=I10, ACTUAL=P10, FIELDTYPE=R, $
    FIELDNAME=ISBN, ALIAS=ISBN, USAGE=A15V, ACTUAL=A15V, $
    FIELDNAME=AUTHOR, ALIAS=Author, USAGE=A50V, ACTUAL=A50V,
      MISSING=ON, $
    FIELDNAME=BOOK_TITLE, ALIAS=Book_Title, USAGE=A50V, ACTUAL=A50V,
      MISSING=ON, $
    FIELDNAME=PUBLISHER, ALIAS=Publisher, USAGE=A50V, ACTUAL=A50V,
      MISSING=ON, $

ISBN, AUTHOR, BOOK_TITLE and PUBLISHER are the four fields on the page. Only the latter three display the period. ISBN is blank when the page loads. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

The MISSING attribute is causing the dot to appear.
You can use the SYS_MGR.FOCSET function in your top-case to set the nodata symbol to nothing or some other value you want.
Like:
SYS_MGR.FOCSET("NODATA","")

Hope this helps ...

Thanks GamP!

That did the trick. I guess the Missing attribute was the one thing sticking out about those fields. I appreciate the info.
