I am using version 8206. In InfoAssist, does anyone knows specifically what the Bin value is for that is created when moving a field into the Measure section for the horizontal axis like for a bar chart or whatever? It seems to be throwing my bar chart off.

Would you please provide your code, in the </> brackets, and the associated error message?

According to the manual:
Binning enables you to determine the frequency of values across the entire range of values. It is used for analyzing a frequency distribution. With binning, you can create discrete buckets of continuous data that control how groups of your data display. In addition, binning gives you the ability to review trends and spot outliers.

I need the bin value removed in this case. I don't need to determine the frequency of values across the entire range of values. I need a regular horizontal bar chart. Here is the code below.

-DEFAULTH &WF_TITLE='WebFOCUS Report';
GRAPH FILE gen_use_datasources/sv_shipments
-* Created by Info Assist for Graph
SUM SV_SHIPMENTS.SV_SHIPMENTS.CLAIM_VALUE/D12.2
BY SV_SHIPMENTS.SV_SHIPMENTS.CLAIM_STATUS
BY CLAIM_VALUE_BIN_2
WHERE SV_SHIPMENTS.SV_SHIPMENTS.PRIMARY_RECORD EQ 'Y';
WHERE SV_SHIPMENTS.SV_SHIPMENTS.CLAIM_STATUS EQ 'FILED' OR 'RESOLVED' OR 'NEW';
WHERE SV_SHIPMENTS.SV_SHIPMENTS.LOGIN_ID EQ CURR_USER;
ON GRAPH PCHOLD FORMAT JSCHART
ON GRAPH SET VZERO OFF
ON GRAPH SET GRWIDTH 1
ON GRAPH SET UNITS &WF_STYLE_UNITS
ON GRAPH SET HAXIS &WF_STYLE_WIDTH
ON GRAPH SET VAXIS &WF_STYLE_HEIGHT

Have you tried:

SUM SV_SHIPMENTS.SV_SHIPMENTS.CLAIM_VALUE/D12.2
BY SV_SHIPMENTS.SV_SHIPMENTS.CLAIM_STATUS
BY CLAIM_VALUE

Well, in InfoAssist for the bar chart, it does not let me delete CLAIM_VALUE_BIN_2 to add CLAIM_VALUE in it's place.

Can you drag CLAIM_VALUE on top of the BIN_2 and drop it on top?

If I drag another CLAIM_VALUE on top of BIN_2, it changes BIN_2 to BIN_3 and has the same effect where it has multiple bin values for each CLAIM_STATUS category.

I’m not seeing the same behavior as you’re describing. Could you start from scratch on a sample file and give us the step by step of how you got here? Maybe I’m skipping a step.

BabakNYC - Are you trying to replicate with a sample file yourself and not seeing the behavior I'm describing here?

Yes. I can create a BIN and I can delete the BIN and replace it with something else.

My bin value was automatically created when I dragged a field to the Measure category. It is right under my CLAIMS_VALUE field in the Measure category.

Is there anyway you can post a screenshot of yours to a site I can get to?

So if I move the CLAIM_VALUE field to the Columns category, then it gets rid of the BIN field, and when running, it generates the binning buckets horizontally across the top versus vertically down the sides with the CLAIM_STATUS field when having it in the Measures categaory.

I need to get rid of generating these bin buckets when executing.

AMC2,

Please post your code within the brackets as there seems to be something in it, automatically created or no, that's causing your issue.
Thank You

Forgive me for not getting back to you on this. But, I don't see an issue with that code. Can you duplicate this issue with an IB Sample source (CAR or GGSALES)?
