I don't understand the question so I cannot give you a firm answer. What do you mean by "data"? What do you mean by "TOP"?

Thanks susannah. But I don't have any issue with HTML output. HTML output still keeps TOP-LEFT align even I don't use style sheet but Excel output is changed to BOTTOM-LEFT align somehow. I can't find the way to fix this in WebFocus.

We all wish you had mentioned "Excel" in your first post. Please post an example fex that illustrates the problem you're having.

My bad, this is my example code:

TABLE FILE SQLOUT
PRINT
 ACTION
 INCIDENT
 WORKERTYPEDESC
BY DIVISIONNAME
BY ID
BY DESCRIPTION
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
     INCLUDE = endeflt,
$
TYPE=REPORT,
     COLUMN=N3,
     WRAP=4.000000,
$
ENDSTYLE
END

The output I got in Excel like:

DIVISIONNAME ID DESCRIPTION ACTION INCIDENT WORKERTYPEDESC
                  AAAAAAAAAAA
AAAA 1 AAAAAAAAAAA BBBB CCCC DDDDDD

It appears that the first record displayed contains blank DIVISIONNAME and ID values.

Here is one method to have data in Excel vertically aligned to the top of the cell. it uses the HTMLFORMTYPE=XLS setting along with some CSS.

Unfortunately, though it does indeed vertically align the text to the top of the cell, there are other issues I haven't overcome, e.g. borders on the cells outside the report do not display.

I've commented the lines of code that don't seem to make any difference. Perhaps someone else can add to this.

SET PAGE=NOLEAD
-RUN

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
 SALES
 DEALER_COST
 RETAIL_COST
BY COUNTRY
BY CAR
BY WARRANTY

ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON

ON TABLE HOLD AS REP001 FORMAT HTMTABLE

ON TABLE SET STYLE *
     INCLUDE = endeflt,
$

TYPE=REPORT,
    BORDER=0.1,
	BORDER-COLOR=RGB(208 215 229),
$

TYPE=REPORT,
	COLUMN=N3,
	WRAP=1.000000,
$

TYPE=DATA,
	CLASS=vertical-top,
$

ENDSTYLE
END
-RUN

SET HTMLFORMTYPE=XLS
-RUN

-HTMLFORM BEGIN
<style>

.vertical-top {
    vertical-align: top;
    border-style: 5px solid red;
}

/*
body {
    background-color: transparent;
}

td {
    border-style: 5px solid green;
}
*/

</style>

<body>
!IBI.FIL.REP001;
</body>
-HTMLFORM END

Hi Francis,

I can use your solution for the similar problem I have. However I have a multiple sheet excel compound report. How do I use HTMLFORTYPE and achieve that?

Thanks for any help

Actually, I have an open NFR to provide this and it has been sent to programming. I have asked that JUSTIFY have 2 components, horizontal and vertical separated by a "-". The horizontal would have the existing options of LEFT, CENTER and RIGHT. The vertical component would have TOP, CENTER and BOTTOM. So JUSTIFY would could be LEFT-TOP or CENTER-CENTER, etc.

The supplied solution uses a simple style sheet, I normally do this with a macro enabled template.

Hello Francis and Susannah,
I enjoy reading both your posts and I'm looking to find a way to justify DATA on the SORT FIELD (eg; COUNTRY) vertical center in HTML. Since ENGLAND appears for first 3 rows in this example, my client wants to see it as one cell centered/middle. I"m not sure how we can merge the row and justify at the same time.

Please let me know.
