I am working on a report. Everthing is working fine except sorting.
I want to sort by 2009 sales.
here is the data 2007 2008 2009 a1 300 350 200 a2 200 450 100 a3 100 300 150.
Thanks, SG.This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,

We'll need more information thatn what you've provided. What is your data source? What have you tried that is not working? What does your master file look like?
At first glance, you have PRINT 2007 2008 2009 BY SORTFILED (which would be the a1,a2,a3) values.
Just switch it to PRINT 2007 2008 2009 BY 2009 NOPRINT BY SORTFIELD
It's just a matter of getting your sort fields in the right order.
P.S. It also helps to ask a more specific question than "here's my problem. Fix it."

Darin

Thanks for your response. I am using year as across field and doing summary on sales column and by custname.
TABLE FILE custdata SUM sales ACROSS year BY custname. END. I want my result set to be sorted by current year's sales data. I tried BY HIGHEST TOTAL SALES NOPRINT. Did not work.
Thanks, SG.

best to use the CAR file when asking for help on a technique... then we can copy your code, run it, fix it, post it back.
DEFINE FILE CAR sorter/I9=IF COUNTRY EQ 'W GERMANY' THEN SALES ELSE 0; END TABLE FILE CAR SUM SALES BY HIGHEST TOTAL sorter NOPRINT BY CAR ACROSS COUNTRY END
