Hello, I am hoping someone may be able to help me understand why I am getting the following error message when I attempt to enter the following define statement below?

IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT 0 AND DAYS_TO_SHIP LT 8 THEN '1 to 7 Days' ELSE IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT 7 AND LT 15 THEN '8 to 14 Days' ELSE IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT 14 THEN '>14 Days' ELSE IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT -8 AND DAYS_TO_SHIP LT 0 THEN '-1 to -7 Days' ELSE IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT -15 AND DAYS_TO_SHIP LT -7 THEN '-8 to -14 Days' ELSE IF DAYS_TO_SHIP LT -14 THEN '<-14 Days' ELSE IF DAYS_TO_SHIP EQ 0 THEN '0 Days'

Error message: FOC266 IF..THEN..ELSE..SYNTAX ERROR
???????? Confused

Hello James,

The syntax is not ending with ELSE but with another ELSE IF, so replace the last ELSE IF with ELSE.

Tip: when you spread this one-line syntax over multiple lines, it gets easier to read and determine where it might go wrong for you.

Along with missing ELSE, you need to use below syntax for more than 1 condition.

ELSE IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT 7 AND DAYS_TO_SHIP LT 15 THEN '8 to 14 Days'

You can probably simplify your code by doing something like:
IF DAYS_TO_SHIP LT -14 THEN '<-14 Days' ELSE IF DAYS_TO_SHIP LT -7 THEN '-8 to -14 Days' ELSE .....
I think it shortens up the code and makes it easier to spot any problems.

I would suggest not using a from..to type of condition but writing in order:
  
IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT 14  THEN '>14 Days'       ELSE
IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT 7   THEN '8 to 14 Days'   ELSE 
IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT 0   THEN '1 to 7 Days'    ELSE
IF DAYS_TO_SHIP EQ 0   THEN '0 Days'         ELSE
IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT -8  THEN '-1 to -7 Days'  ELSE
IF DAYS_TO_SHIP GT -15 THEN '-8 to -14 Days' ELSE
'<-14 Days' ;
