I have an OLAP report, with a drilldown, that displays without any trouble. When the report is initially displayed, I can drilldown to the second report without any problems. I can use the back button, and repeat the process for different column values.

But if I were to sort any of the columns in the first report using the OLAP controls, and then try to drilldown to the second report, I get the message: "WebFOCUS was called with an invalid request."

I looked at the Tech Support problems/solutions to this message, but it seems to be a generic message that can be related to different problems.

Has anyone came across the OLAP problem I described and could guide me in a direction to help pinpoint my problem?

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,

Has this issue regarding invalid request been resolved?

I did a bit research on online documents and wonder that the following topics may be of intererst:

Troubleshooting error "WebFOCUS was called with an invalid request"
http://techsupport.informationbuilders.com/tech/wbf/wbf_dia_133.html

Summary: OLAP fails with IBIF_adhocfex(protect)
http://techsupport.informationbuilders.com/known_problems/10952048.html

Hope this helps. Smiler

Cheers,

Kerry

tim, in my experience, that has been a very generic error message; and for me its always something wrong with my code, and not something mysterious about the focus engine. And it can be many different things, but its always my fault in the end.

Kerry: No, it is still a problem for me. I turned the OLAP option off until I can figure it out. I will look at your links to see if I can find a relation. Thanks!

Susannah: I figure it is something in my code, it usually is! Smiler I will just have to tinker with it until I can figure it out. It just seems odd that it only appears if I try drilling down after I sort a column in OLAP, otherwise it drills down with no problem. The parameters sent do not change. If I figure it out, I will post my solution.

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,

I've just come across exactly the same problem and found your query as I attempted to search for a solution. Were you ever able to progress with this ?

I've replicated the problem with a very simple, basic OLAP report - one dimension column with a drilldown, and one measure column. Drilldown works fine until I sort the measure column ! That's making me think is unlikly to be a code problem as nothing really going on ?

Any leads you've uncovered would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob.
