In the latest student e-guide ‘Self-Service Analytics with Info-Assist (advanced Techniques)“ there is a chapter about Data Visualization.
A nice technique where you can combine multiple visualizations, and also add filters to choose from. By changing a filter all visualizations change.

In my opinion this looks a lot like a dashboard, in other words this could be a dashboard. Or are there fundamental differences between a dashboard and this data visualization?
Is a data visualization made by a developer (IT) or is the business user himself able to create this? Which user had Information Builders in mind when creating this option?

Visualization is a feature of InfoAssist. So, I think it's meant for Power User. They come with a lot more interactivity that you'd have to code in a Dashboard and all content in the visualization is tied together. So, when you lasso a part of your chart and click exclude, it'll filter all charts and reports on that visualization automatically. You can also create Storyboards which is unique to visualization.
