Hi All,

I have input file which contains
Input File (3 fields):
1A2
1B3
1D4
2A6
2B7
2D8

I need output as below
X A B C D
1 2 3 0 5
2 5 6 7 8

First column in output file is first column in input file, A B C D are second column in input file, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 are third column in input file. If any of the row doesn't contain A, B, C, D then 0 need to be generated (like the 4th column in output file).

Could any one help me in doing above.

Isn't that just a matter of using ACROSS?:
TABLE FILE input_file
SUM third_column
BY first_column
ACROSS second_column
END

Hi Wep, thanks for your reply.

I have mentioned only 3 fields above, there are other fields which i need to display in my report along with them. Two fields should be hardcoded and 2 fields are date and time. So i was facing problem when i consolidate all the fields.

I don't want the column names when i am using ACROSS, i have given it as

TABLE FILE input_file
print *
ACROSS field AS ''
END

But still i could see the column names, is there a method where we can hide the column names?

Hi Vinay,

Here is a small example of what might be good for you:

-* File vinay01.fex
EX -LINES 7 EDAPUT MASTER,VINAY,C,MEM
 FILENAME=VINAY    , SUFFIX=FIX
 SEGMENT=VINAY, SEGTYPE=S0
 FIELDNAME=NN,  ALIAS=NN,  USAGE=A1, ACTUAL=A1, $
 FIELDNAME=LL,   ALIAS=LL,   USAGE=A1, ACTUAL=A1, $
 FIELDNAME=VV, ALIAS=VV, USAGE=A1,  ACTUAL=A1, $
 FIELDNAME=WW, ALIAS=WW, USAGE=A1,  ACTUAL=A1, $
-RUN
FILEDEF VINAY DISK VINAY.FTM
-RUN
-WRITE VINAY 1A2Q
-WRITE VINAY 1B3W
-WRITE VINAY 1D4E
-WRITE VINAY 1F5Z
-WRITE VINAY 2A6R
-WRITE VINAY 2B7T
-WRITE VINAY 2D8Y
-WRITE VINAY 2C9U
-RUN
SET NODATA=0
TABLE FILE VINAY
SUM VV AS '' WW AS ''
BY NN AS X
ACROSS LL AS ''
END

Explanations:
The EX -LINES allows you to write a MASTER in memory. You can look up the syntax in the Forum.
The -WRITE creates your data file. Notice that I put 4 fields instead of your 3.
The TABLE command creates the output.
