Any hold fiie in edatemp should automatically disappear when the request is complete. You might want to check to make sure SET TEMPERASE=OFF is not coded somewhere like the edasprof.prf or some other profile as that will prevent them from being deleted. If you can't find that set anywhere you can do to the following to insure it happens is to set the agent_refresh setting to 1 on the reporting server console under Workspace / Data Services / DEFAULT.

I think the better question is why are you bringing back 40GB of data.

Surely it could be summarised or filtered.

What is the data source ?

Your original problem was why did the temp file stay around, did you solve that? I am curious as well why your report generates 40GB of data no one would possibly be able to consume that much information. Couldn't it be filtered down to a more usable size and then drill down for additional detail as necessary?

With Terradata the source, you may be able to SAME_DB

This will create a temporary table and not return the data to WebFOCUS session.

I would suggest reviewing what your code is doing to minimise the size of the result set.

Also Teradata may not be set up to allow temp tables, your DB Admin can confirm.

Check the documentation.

ON TABLE HOLD [AS filename] FORMAT SAME_DB PERSISTENCE VOLATILE

Please look at my original answer. That file should be automatically deleted from the edatemp directory..
