Hello,

I am using the below line to get previous business day.
-SET &PRIBUSDAY =
- DATECVT((DATEMOV((DATECVT(&YYMD,'I8YYMD','YYMD')),'PWD')),'YYMD','I8YYMD');
I am getting 20090703. I am assuming most of the companies were closed on Friday. Is there a work around or do I need to hard code depending on my companies holidays?

Thanks,
SG.

DATECVT appears to behave differently when used in Dialogue Manager and WebFOCUS.

Example:
-SET &PRIBUSDAY =
- DATECVT((DATEMOV((DATECVT(&YYMD,'I8YYMD','YYMD')),'PWD')),'YYMD','I8YYMD');

-TYPE &PRIBUSDAY

DEFINE FILE CAR
DATE1/YYMD =
IF COUNTRY EQ 'ENGLAND' THEN '20090702' ELSE
IF COUNTRY EQ 'FRANCE' THEN '20090703' ELSE
IF COUNTRY EQ 'JAPAN'   THEN '20090704' ELSE '20090705';
END

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT DATE1
COMPUTE PRIBUSDAY/YYMD = DATEMOV(DATE1,'PWD');
HEADING
"PRIBUSDAY from dialog manager: &PRIBUSDAY"
BY COUNTRY
END
-RUN

Result:
PRIBUSDAY from dialog manager: 20090703

COUNTRY   DATE1      PRIBUSDAY
--------- ---------- ----------
ENGLAND   2009/07/02 2009/07/01
FRANCE    2009/07/03 2009/07/02
ITALY     2009/07/05 2009/07/02
JAPAN     2009/07/04 2009/07/02
W GERMANY 2009/07/05 2009/07/02

Strangely, even without use of a holiday file, the previous business day is calculated to July 2nd, so the holiday seems to be built-in to WebFOCUS.

As well, use of the holiday file with the command SET HDAY appears not to work for Dialogue Manager.

I see no difference in both Dialogue Manager and Webfocus.
you are getting different results since you are assigning '20090705' to DATE1. if you assign
DATE1/YYMD = &YYMD you will get the same results.

Thanks,
SG.

HDAY2009.err file:
20090703
20090704

Code:
SET HDAY = 2009
-RUN

-SET &PRIBUSDAY =
- DATECVT((DATEMOV((DATECVT(&YYMD,'I8YYMD','YYMD')),'PWD')),'YYMD','I8YYMD');

-TYPE &PRIBUSDAY

DEFINE FILE CAR
DATE1/YYMD =
IF COUNTRY EQ 'ENGLAND' THEN '20090702' ELSE
IF COUNTRY EQ 'FRANCE' THEN '20090703' ELSE
IF COUNTRY EQ 'ITALY' THEN '20090704' ELSE
IF COUNTRY EQ 'JAPAN'   THEN '20090705' ELSE '&YYMD';
END

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT DATE1
COMPUTE PRIBUSDAY/YYMD = DATEMOV(DATE1,'PWD');
HEADING
"PRIBUSDAY from dialog manager: &PRIBUSDAY"
BY COUNTRY
END
-RUN

Result:
PRIBUSDAY from dialog manager: 20090703

COUNTRY   DATE1      PRIBUSDAY
--------- ---------- ----------
ENGLAND   2009/07/02 2009/07/01
FRANCE    2009/07/03 2009/07/02
ITALY     2009/07/04 2009/07/02
JAPAN     2009/07/05 2009/07/02
W GERMANY 2009/07/06 2009/07/03

You're right. Even though I have 20090703 as a holiday in the HDAY file, it still is evaluated as a previous business day, despite the rule "A business day calculation is affected by the BUSDAYS and HDAY parameter settings".
