It may be very obvious to most of you, but I couldn't figure out a way to get rid of empty cells when using ACROSS, values are scattered all over.
And why WF assumes we don't need the column title when there is only one across column?

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
     CAR
BY COUNTRY
ACROSS SEATS
END

Generally, if you are only using one verb object a heading on your report would describe what the data is so you don't need the column title.

If you do want the column title to appear you can trick it by using:

SUM CAR/A16

This puts a second column of car in the internal table so the column title will print.

Thanks every one for replying.

quote:
Change PRINT to SUM.

This looses my detail information. And it is wrong information if SUMming a alpha value:
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
     CAR
BY SEATS
ACROSS COUNTRY
END

This only show me TRIUMPH is a 2-seated car in ENGLAND, and JAGUAR is missing when I SUM instead of PRINT.

Then what you need to do is COUNT something to go into the cells.

Maybe you could give us more information on what you are actually trying to do.

	COUNTRY
ENGLAND	FRANCE	ITALY	JAPAN	W GERMANY
SEATS
2	JAGUAR ALFA ROMEO
	TRIUMPH ALFA ROMEO
			MASERATI

I simply want to list the cars by seats for each country across. I am trying to avoid the Italian cars listed 2 lines below English cars.
A more practical example is I want to see what products the salesmen sold over the 12-month period. The PRINT verb gives the diagonal views of the products for each salesman, and SUM gives the last product sold by the salesmen.

Hua

you need to add a list sequence and then you get what you want.

TABLE FILE SALES
LIST
PRODUCTS
BY SALESMAN
ON TABLE HOLD
END
TABLE FILE HOLD
SUM PRODUCTS
BY LIST NOPRINT
ACROSS SALESMAN
END

The list command ad an sequence number 1 to xx
now you are listing all the products per salesman.
You also could Rank the products (and the number of sold items) and then print the products ranked by highest number.
The Rank is a more functional sequence.

TABLE FILE SALES
SUM SALES
BY SALESMAN
BY PRODUCTS
RANKED BY HIGHEST SALES
ON TABLE HOLD
END
TABLE FILE HOLD
SUM PRODUCTS SALES
BY RANK NOPRINT
ACROSS SALESMAN
END
