[CLOSED] Shot in the Dark
We have never had an issue creating new master files....Right Click New Synonym etc.

Twice in the past week after clicking: New then: Synonym we get a note that says:

Retrieving information from the WF/TEST/EDASEVRE server...
CANCEL / AGENTS

Then after a few seconds:
Failed to connect to /TEST/EDASEVRE. Either the release of the server is incompatible with the release of the client or a critical error occurred.

It happened last week and magically started working again. Rumor has it IT is making changes all across the network. Now it has happened again. No idea what the IT folks are doing but they seem stumped.

Anyone have any ideas?

I suspect a network error accessing the tcp/ip port but have not seen that error before.

Robert,
I suggest you make sure the server connections in the Administration console are set up correctly. If IT changed the port or host maybe that's the issue? Good luck!

I've seen this when all the agents on thew reporting server are used up.

Could there have been increased usage ? or many long running queries ?

We have noticed that on occasion if we just let the pop up (Cancel/OK) sit for a time, the screen (New Synonym) eventually pops up..at least it did twice...does this tell us anything...?
