Is SUSE 9 SP4 supported for WF 76X ????

I'm planning to install a SUSE-9 SP4 to use it with my WF 764, but I was searching the docs and all I can find was the Linux kernel version, not the O.S. support, in WF 714 it states directly that it supports SUSE 7.2 and above, but on the 76X version it doesn't say so.

Does anyone here knows if it is supported or not ??? So I don't waste my time installing SUSE and move to something else for example FEDORA, this is for in house tests.

Thanks in advance, any help would be appreciated.

I would have to check for sure, but I believe our installation of 7.1.6 is installed on SUSE 9 - don't know which service pack. So you would be fine with 7.6 on that version as well.

Just checked with the sysadmin. We are on SUSE9. So if 7.1.x is supported, I would guess that a newer 7.6 version would be as well.

A good place to check for version support information is the Product Information section of the InfoResponse web site (http://techsupport.informationbuilders.com) or the current "WebFOCUS Installation and Configuration for Unix" manual.

I have helped with a number of installation on SLES 9, and I don't recall major installation issues. Linux can be touchy with regards to permissions, so look at Chapters 3 and 4 of the Installation and Configuration manual regarding this subject.

As WebFOCUS is supported for a number of flavors of Linux, it is critical is to make sure you have the correct WebFOCUS release for the Linux kernel (e.g. Linux Kernel 2.4.21, 2.6.5 and 2.6.9 x86 ). Make sure the O/S version (32-bit or 64-bit) is correct, too. Trying to install a 64-bit WebFOCUS server on a 32-bit OS hasn't worked for me. Smiler

Out of curiousity, when you mention SuSE 9, are you talking about SuSE Enterprise Linux Server (SLES)? I did an installation on SuSE 10 Desktop. If memory serves me correct, the only real issue I encountered was having to install the appropriate third-party software modules (e.g. Tomcat, Sun Java, etc.) and open some of the firewall ports.

Good afternoon

Thanks to all the replies, I had already installed my DM server on SUSE 9, it has been working fine, no problem at all, since today, ja.

As you stated, all I have to do additional was installing Java, TOMCAT and some packages for my clients, and also the firewall I leave it off since it is a local machine, but when it was up, cannot even enter to the 8080 port for TOMCAT.

Again, thanks to everyone who replied.
