I have a field defined as
VEH_SHIPPED_DATE PIC 9(08) DEFAULT SYSTEM NOT NULL

the display looks like
20150204

I need the field to be converted to 02/04/2015 (or 2/4/2015 would be fine).

How can I do that?

Thanks,
Mitch

DEFINE FILE WHATEVER
  NEW_DATE2/A10 = EDIT(VEH_SHIPPED_DATE,'$$$$99/99/') || EDIT(VEH_SHIPPED_DATE,'9999');
END

OR

DEFINE FILE WHATEVER
  NEW_DATE1/I8YYMD = VEH_SHIPPED_DATE;
  NEW_DATE2/MDYY = NEW_DATE1;
END

TABLE FILE WHATEVER
PRINT
  NEW_DATE2 AS 'Vehicle Shipped Date'
etc...

The date can be converted directly in the MFD with DATEPATTERN, then easily used in IA.
FIELDNAME = VEH_SHIPPED_DATE, ALIAS = VEH_SHIPPED_DATE, USAGE = MDYY, ACTUAL = A08,
            DATEPATTERN = '[YYYY][MM][DD]',$
