I have a requirement to create an EXCEL file w/ a PIVOT table..but would like the rows to be compressed (aggregated) vs expanded (detail). this allows a 10,000 row table to be opened w/ a much smaller set of rows which is less ovewhelming for the user.

Below is the basic code which creates the pivot table

1. is there a command to enter to 'compress' the rows..or  does the excel file need to have a macro and/or a template to open in

2. if the 2nd..if there good doc on  how to use both (templates and/or macros)

3. Is FORMAT XLSX PIVOT available on a newer release of WF. My only option is FORMAT EXL2K PIVOT..which causes the browser (opening the excel file) to throw an 'unsupported type' error....which the user has to ok out of.

Thanks everyone/anyone w/ any insights into this.
Wm

Code..

TABLE FILE CAR
"Hello"
PRINT SALES
BY COUNTRY
BY MODEL
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K PIVOT
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
UNITS=IN, PAGESIZE='Letter', LEFTMARGIN=0.2000, RIGHTMARGIN=0.2000,
    TOPMARGIN=0.2500, BOTTOMMARGIN=0.2500, SQUEEZE=ON,
    ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE, $
TYPE=REPORT, FONT=TIMES NEW ROMAN, SIZE=8, COLOR=BLACK,
    BACKCOLOR=NONE, STYLE=NORMAL, $
TYPE=HEADING,

The only part of this question I can answer is that I have 8.2.06 and the only format for pivot table is EXL2K.

If the message the users are getting is this. 'The file you are trying to open, 'WFServlet', is in a different format than
specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupt and is
from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file
specified by the file extension.'

Then this is a possible solution.

Changing the windows the windows Security Policy:

a)Download administrative templates for office 2013 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us...etails.aspx?id=35554

b) Add the excel 2013 admx "excel15.admx" to the Domain-Based Group Policy Object. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb530196.aspx

c) Open Group Policy Object Editor, go to user configuration, administrative templates, Microsoft Excel 2013, Excel Options, security, edit ©Force file extensión to mach file type©, allow and set ©Allow Different©.
