Hai all,

I am new to WebFOCUS. I need some info and I will be glad if someone could help me out.
Is there any web or an online document which has required basics of WebFOCUS like...
-path on our machine for various sources (custom templates for dashboard, path to customize auto-prompt screen etc..)
-installation instructions (other than manual)
-basic debugging techniques
-other necessary stuff which will be helpful for a new WebFOCUS developer.

Thanks a lot..

Enimga,

There is a list of training centres and courses available on the IB website and when you or your company buys WebFOCUS there will be an installation manual provided with the product containing all you need to know. The sales person will cover suggested platforms and operating systems depending upon your planned usage etc. Each site is different and there is no "one size fits all" approach.

As for the path on YOUR machine - that depends on what, how and where you've installed it, and bearing in mind we do not work for the same company as you do, and therefore do not have access to your machine, how would we know?

Please do not fall into the trap that so many other newbies have done by asking questions that would be covered in a basic training course. Push your bosses to provide that training for you (yes, it will cost them) and do not expect us to provide it instead. Remember, the good folks on this forum provide their suggestions and responses for free - respect that and you'll receive a good response.

For things such as debugging techniques, use the search button in the top right and perform a search on the problem you experience. Try and think how others might have phrased the question and from that identify key words to use within your search.

There is everything that a newbie might need on this forum, but it is deposited in many a posting and is not indexed other than for provision of a very good index for searching.

You've done more than some newbies have done and provided your release, platform and O/S, together with output formats. All these pieces of information are important when gauging responses to questions.

Good luck!

I know how to create reports in various formats, managing MRE, customizing dashboard templates, drill-downs etc. Other than these what are the things a WebFOCUS developer is expected to know?

The topics I mentioned above can be learnt by going through manuals and documentation. But I believe there might be some issues that can be known only through experience. Are there any such minimum knowledge points to keep in mind?
Please dont mind if my questions seem to be silly.

Thanks..
