[CLOSED] TITLE attribute from an Oracle table?
Hi,

If you have a table, in this case an Oracle table, and you create a synonym for it, you end up with:

<tablename>.acx
<tablename>.mas

In the .mas file, you will see each field listed this this:

FIELDNAME=EMPL_NM, ALIAS=EMPL_NM, USAGE=A100V, ACTUAL=A100V, MISSING=ON, $

If you write a fex like this:

TABLE FILE <tablename>
PRINT
  EMPL_NM
END

You will see something like:

EMPL_NM
Bob Smith
Sally Jones

Now I edit the .mas file, so the same line has a TITLE attribute, like so:

FIELDNAME=EMPL_NM, ALIAS=EMPL_NM, USAGE=A100V, ACTUAL=A100V, MISSING=ON, TITLE='Employee', $

I run the same fex and it shows something like this:

Employee
Bob Smith
Sally Jones

This is all pretty basic and simple. I'm hoping the answer to my question is similarly complex:

Is there a way to modify the Oracle table / view so that the TITLE attribute exists with the proper value as soon as I create the synonym?
In other words, can I store my TITLE values in the table itself, and if so, where?

Cheers,

Joey

I know that the comments in the column definition pass through to DESCRIPTION in the MAS file, not sure about anything populating TITLE

Although it isn't Oracle, I found this info.

My guess is that it is the same for Oracle.
