Hi All,

I'm in WebFOCUS 8.0.07 and DB2.

Though the length of column(Integer) in DB is only 4, it shows up the data values if its even more than 4 in DB
(eg, 365678).

describle table scehmaname.tablename;

However, in WF, as the field USAGE is 4 in the master, if data exceeds 4, filled up with asterix(****) in the report output as expected. Manually modified in the master accordingly.

Have used Oracle DB so far, never faced like this before.

Thanks,
Rifaz

Are you sure the database is not describing that field length as number of bytes? 4 Bytes goes well beyond 9999, all the way up to 2**32.

You can approximate the field size in the master file using something along the lines of USAGE=I10 (I seem to recall that's the limit for integers in WF)

Thanks Wep5622 for your reply,

When you describe the table,
COLNAME,TYPESCHEMA,TYPENAME,LENGTH,SCALE,NULLABLE. Here, column LENGTH represents in bytes. Is it so? Everytime, we have to edit our masters manually according to data types. Confused Am i correct?

How about VARCHAR?

Rifaz,
I'm afraid you are mixing up between Integer and Alpha fields.
I don't know what the WF DB2 interface shows when you create a Master.
However Integers (I fields) clasically are 4 bytes long (in some databases you have "small int" fields which are 2 bytes).
These fields are usually described by WF as USAGE=I11, ACTUAL=I4. You shouldn't have a problem with that.
If you do see a USAGE=I4 and you get **** in your output, increase the number of displayed digits to I6 or so. And I suggest you find out why this USAGE was used.

What about VARCHAR?

It shows as USAGE=I4 only, have to change it to 10 for long int and 5 for small int manually in the master.
So, I'm little worried about VARCHAR, will it be any case like, lets say, in DB its length is 100, do we need to change in our master, increase to A200 or above, like we did it for integers.
