Hi All,

Could anyone please explain the difference b/w parameters created in composer and created outside composer.
I have created few parameters in composer and few from the fex.
The ones created through fex: the values are passing to the parameters based on the selection from launch page
The ones created in composer: I select different set of values from launch page, but the parameter is only taking the value declared as -DEFAULT in the fex. It should be taking the values I select from the launch page.

What is wrong. Have I dont anything wrong while creating the parameter in composer. What should I be doing.

Please help, I am new to WF.

When you use the compsoer, variables you create there have to be bound to an &variable. If that has not been done variables will not be transferred to webfocus.
Binding variables is done automatically when you include a fex with variables in your composer.

Put the variables in your focexec first. Then open the HTML Composer and add a button. Reference the procedure and your controls will show up.

I guess this is creating the parameters outside composer.

I want to know about the ones which are created in the composer.

No issues.

If you know how to do the same in the composer then that would be of great help. I know how to do it from fex

There is no documentation on how to bind variables after the fact.
It can be done, did it myself, but I forgot how to do it, because it is so much easier and simpler to first create the fex with all needed variables in it and then hook it into the html composer.
You can even change the fex after the fact and reload it in the composer (throw out the old one and import the new). It will detect any changes in the presence of variables and act upon it.

It is documented starting on page 85 of the HTML Composer manual for 76 how to create parameters within the HTML Composer and how to bind them.

David, thanks for correcting me. Apparently my search wasn't extensive enough to find it. But as I said, nowadays I just re-import the fex and that's a lot easier for my situations.
