Is this a bug or known peculiarity?
Had a bad typing day yesterday, only disovered when checking my code. I was surprised that this works, the actual calculation is not important:
-SET ENDDATE=DAMDY(&MDYY,'I8')+28;
-SET ENDDATE=DTMDY(&ENDDATE,'I8');
-SET ENDDATE=IF &ENDDATE.LENGTH EQ 7 THEN '0' | &ENDDATE;
-SET ENDDATE=EDIT(&ENDDATE,'99/99/9999');
-TYPE &ENDDATE

The & missing from the variable name on the left of the -SET seems to make no difference. I was actually using !IBI.AMP.ENDDATE; which also worked. Using WF 7.1.3.

Is it a bug?

Alan,
This has existed for as long as I can remember. Apparently FOCUS will assume that after -SET there is a parameter and if the & is not there FOCUS will add it.
I strongly suggest not coding this way: one day IBI will plug it and then...

Thanks Danny.

I wouldn't normally code like this, just a bad day. Actually surprised I never came across this before with my typing skills.

Hi Alan,

The use of an & has always been documented as required. (except in a -DEFAULT)
While this does work, it is recommended that you correct the code to include the & as this appears to be an error in the dialogue manager parser that will be corrected in a future release.

Hope this helps. Smiler

Cheers,

Kerry
