Does anyone know why this message is attached to the bottom of my report (as a separate section) whether the report has been rerun or not?

I am testing my reports from Dev Studio and have not had this issue before where an additional section suddenly appears at the end of the report (html) displaying the message "Report has been closed. To view again please rerun the report".

How do I get rid of this unsightly message?

You probably have 'messages on' when running your report. In Dev Studio, there is an arrow next to the run icon. If you select that, you will see that 'Message Viewer ON' is selected. Simply select 'Message Viewer OFF' and your split screen and message will go away.
