Is there any simple utility to move users, groups, and dashboards from old servers to new server? I have explored couple of options:

MRExtract but utility is failing to produce outputfiles.
MRMIGRATION but documentation doesnt mention that it will migrate users and groups while I do not wnat to move the code.
Any utility to move dashboards?
Both of my source and target servers are running 7.6.10 managed reporting webfocus

I'd strongly recommend using the IBI utility for migration.

backdoor would be to copy user.htm from basedir.
copy worp folder for dashboard contents.

Thanks,
Sayed

Thank you for writing back Sayed. I tried to run MRMIGRATION utility but it doesnt specify it will move users and groups. I dont wnat to move code and procedures and domains. I already have moved my domains and code using the change managerment option on the administration screen browser. I am afraid if I user migration utility to move everything i might run into internal name conflict for my report. What do you suggest for me to mover users, groups and dashboards only?

Since you're on the same WF version.

try copying the user.htm file under basedir. <- this should copy all your user info.
then copy worp folder. <- this will copy all your dashboard contents

make sure you back them up before doing this.

Recycle your APP server.

Thanks,
Sayed

Are you using external authentication or authorization with the MR Realm driver?

If so, you will likely need to clone the database as well and point to the new location.

Even with this, you will need to copy mrrepos.htm, since this is still used with external authorization.

Thanks,
Doug Logan

I am using Active directory as authentication. I was able to produce IBIUDR.txt file using MRextract.bat. However, I dont know how to load this in my new server.

Does anyone know how can I upload this file in my new system to populate all the users from old system?

Arif
