do you need a white grid but a coloured background? or is it a white grid and a white background?

Change the "red" to "white" to make the borders white.
Uncomment the border-collapse tag to make thinner borders.

white on white, Pietro, so that i can keep WRAP but kill the ugly borders. Some printers are b/w and no grayscale (go figure!)
I tried TD tags inside a STYLE
but what happened is that the header, with multiple lines, would then show a grid between the lines, instead of one solid color block.
I couldn't figure out how to address just the body of the table and not the header.
it seems that wf doesn't use TH tags for the header (and they may be deprecated, i dont even know).
and does all of this have to have HTMLCSS=ON, which of course seems to kill every bit of specific styling?
i tried td.classname
and then TYPE=DATA,CLASS=classname
no cigar.
I want it to be easy, like TYPE=REPORT,GRID=ON,GRIDCOLOR=WHITE,$
that's what's on my wish list.

Instead of using the grid, have you tried using borders? See FEX below using CAR. Note that with borders, you have only three widths (I chose medium).
