Updating Synonym

I have created a synonym from our Sybase table. It created a .mas and .acx file. The structure of the table was changed on the backend. I want to update the .mas file that was created to reflect the new fields that were added. I did a right-click on the .mas file and Refresh Synonym. When I opened the .mas file, it did not reflect the new fields. I am using Dev Studio v 7.6.2

Thanks,
Joel

I would recommend using the reporting server web console.

Also, make sure that you have write permissions to the file and directory.

Another option is to delete ane re-add though I have found in 762 that refresh works well, at least through the web console.

Are you working in a local environment or a web environment? The synonym you are updating needs to be the one that resides on the WF Server. If you are in a local environment with a local connection to Sybase, what you did should have worked. If you are in a local environment or a web environment, but the Sybase connection is from a WF Server, you need to go to the web console for that server and refresh the synonym. I've found that it is sometimes better to drop the synonym and recreate it rather than using refresh. I've only got mixed results using the "Refresh Synonym" functionality. Remember that if you have added defines to the MFD, or column titles/descriptions or other custom modifications, those will have to be re-done in your new synonym.

Darin
