Hi all,

I have a situation where I have to create dummy records and a column as shown in the example below:

value code
A 1A
B
A 1C
B 1D

After manipulation, the table should look like following:

value code New_Column
A 1A 1A
A 1B
A 1C
A 1D
B 1A
B 1B
B 1C
B 1D
A 1A
A 1B
A 1C 1C
A 1D
B 1A
B 1B
B 1C
B 1D 1D

Any help will definitely appreciated.
Thanks,
Pku

You can also try with SQL translator and Castesian Join 2 FOCUS tables.
APP PATH IBISAMP
-RUN
TABLE FILE CAR
BY COUNTRY
ON TABLE HOLD AS HLD_1 FORMAT FOCUS
END
TABLE FILE CAR
BY CAR
ON TABLE HOLD AS HLD_2 FORMAT FOCUS
END
-RUN
SQL
SELECT HLD_1.COUNTRY, HLD_2.CAR FROM HLD_1, HLD_2
;
TABLE
ON TABLE HOLD
END
-RUN
TABLE FILE HOLD
PRINT
*
END

Thanks,

Thanks, Waz and Ram

I used "BY" and "OVER" commands to create the dummy records first. Then, using "JOINs" to eliminate and move the values into desired positions.

Thanks, again
