I've noted some unexpected behavior with popup titles and business views.

If I add a description to the business view .MAS file, that description appears in the metalayer information in the InfoAssist fields treeview. (That is what I would expect.) But for the Report Painter treeview, and for the popup titles in either Report Painter or InfoAssist HTML output, I instead see the description from the .MAS file on which the business view is based (if a description exists in that file; otherwise, I see no popup titles). Perhaps this is a bug that has already been addressed? I'm using WF 8.0.06. Or, maybe, there is a way to direct the reports to show the business view descriptions rather than the descriptions for the source master table?

Hi JudyH

Welcome to Focal Point.

The following describes the requirement for the titles and description - can you verify what you have in the master file description for the business view. Do you have titles and descriptions in the base view as well?

The Title Popup Feature will display a popup message on column titles where
the Master file (.mas) contains a Description attribute (DESC) for a field.
Without this attribute in the master file, the popup will not be displayed.

Thank you for participating in the Focal Point Forum.

Kindest regards,

Thank you for the reply, Tamra.

The Business View is also a .MAS file, and I have descriptions in that .MAS file. But I don't see the descriptions I have written there as title popups. Instead, I see the description (if any) for the base view. Meanwhile, the popup metalayer information in the fields treeview correctly shows the descriptions from the business view.

An end user using InfoAssist sees one description (from the business view) in the treeview metadata information and a different description (from the base file) in the title popup. Shouldn't those both be the description from the business view .MAS source?

-edit-
This also means that any DEFINEs in the business view won't show title popups, as there is no corresponding field in the base file.
- Correction - I have found that, for DEFINEs in the business view, the bv description will be shown in the title popup.
