Hi all,
First, I'm using Webfocus 7.1.4 Developer Studio.

I'm creating a report which requires that the Month and Day is spelled out (or abbriviated). I have no issue getting the numeric representation using HPART but how do I put the Month or Day into alphanumeric words without writing an "IF" statement.

Is this what you want?
DEFINE FILE CAR
NEWDATE/MtrDYY=&MDYY;
END
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT COUNTRY NEWDATE
END
Look up date format options in the documentation. You can search in Developer Studio help, type in 'date format' for the search string and look for the same words about 7-8 lines down. You will see all of the date format display options.
