All,

Would like to create the front page for a multi datasource report. The only thing I need on the front page is an icon, date and passed in parm. Can someone point me in the direction of coding it. Thanks,

You may want to look at the doc "Developing Reporting Applications" DN 4500696.0206 the chapter "Designing a User Interface With FrontPage" may get you started.

rc, is this page (a) the launch page for the fex?
or is it (b) the first output page of a report?
If b, (which i'm guessing), is this report going to be printable, and you want essentially a cover page? and do you want a print icon on that page? before i launch into an example, i want to see if I understand you

It's B
It will be printed as the first page of the pdf output. I need to print the company logo on the page.

The report consists of 4 datasources i.e. 4 sql stored procedures. I'm using compound reports to make them a part of one single output pdf.

A second question.
In essence in the first report I duplicated the example on page 26-109 of "Creating Reports with Webfocus Language", where you have a table on the left and a graph on the right. I need to flip the items, where the graph is on the left and the table is on the right. Is this doable?

i'm not a pdf person, i'm afraid. we always assume html is your output, unless you specify pdf or excel in your initial question. I can show youi in html, but its totally dif in pdf, and i can't help you there, i'm afraid. someone will come along who can, tho.

rc,

Yes, you can change the positions, just ensure your left margin is large enough and reposition the gif accordingly -
GRAPH FILE SHORT
SUM PROJECTED_RETURN AS 'Return on Investment'
BY HOLDER
ACROSS CONTINENT
ON GRAPH SET LOOKGRAPH 3D_BAR
ON GRAPH SET GRAPHEDIT SERVER
ON GRAPH HOLD AS SLSGRPH1 FORMAT GIF
END
TABLE FILE SHORT
SUM PROJECTED_RETURN AS 'Return on Investment'
BY CONTINENT
BY HOLDER
HEADING
"Investment Report"
" "
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=REPORT, LEFTMARGIN=3.0, RIGHTMARGIN=0.20, $
TYPE=DATA, BACKCOLOR=( BY=B2 'SILVER' 'WHITE' ), $
TYPE=HEADING, SIZE=14, STYLE=BOLD, $
TYPE=REPORT, IMAGE=SLSGRPH1.gif, POSITION=(0.2 0.8), SIZE=(2.5 2.0), $
ENDSTYLE
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT PDF
END

And for your report front page, just use the empty report concept -
TABLE FILE SHORT
PRINT HOLDER NOPRINT
IF RECORDLIMIT EQ 1
HEADING
"Investment Report"
"FRONT PAGE"
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=HEADING, SIZE=14, STYLE=BOLD, JUSTIFY=CENTER, $
TYPE=REPORT, IMAGE=image.gif, POSITION=(3.0 0.8), SIZE=(2.5 2.0), $
ENDSTYLE
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT PDF
END

Plug both of your versions into your compound report and you should have what you require.

Front page for the report is working great in pdf.

In excel the title is being placed in column A (first column). Is there anything I can do to center the title? Tried position = 2.5, but it didn't work.

I think for EXL2K you'll need to use HEADING CENTER which generates merged cells to center the heading, but not 100% sure with what you are doing.

How do I reference the page heading in the style section so I can try and center it. Tried doing it in the visual studio and it didn't make much difference.

Got it
TYPE=HEADING,
SIZE=24,
COLSPAN=20,
JUSTIFY=CENTER,
BACKCOLOR=( 'WHITE' 'WHITE' ),
collapses 20 cells into one, then you center justify the contents of the cell. The white, white gets ride of the grid lines.
