TwanetteSHARING: Change in FILEDEF behaviour between 7.7.03M and higher versions
Hi everyone,
One of our WebFOCUS consultants in South Africa sent through the following info, which I thought was worth sharing.
quote:
Hi All
Just a heads up: I'm not sure when it happened but APP FI is deprecated; now mapped to FILEDEF. The thing is if you are appending lots of different records of different lengths into the same file (yes, unusual but I have such an example) then any records with a length longer than the first record written into the file get chopped. It's as if WebFOCUS sets LRECL when the first record is written to the file. So you must set LRECL in the FILEDEF to a high enough value. This was not needed in 7.7.03M but is needed in 7.7.05M/8.0.0.2M.
Cheers
Roy

Doug Thanks for the Heads-Up. This, I think, is attributed to IB "Tightening Up Their Code"... Not uncommon in upgrades, just something to keep in mind.
