Hi all,

My scenario is that I have table request in WF that gets its data from an Excel sheet. I need to output the data back into Excel with the changes the request makes to it. The only catch is I need to distribute via a dynamic distribution list wherein each file attachment has the store number in the file name. So, if Billy Bob Joe gets several attachments in one email to in turn disperse to others he's in charge of, he needs to be able to uniquely identify each attachment by store number to do so.

In the table request I have I've tried something like the following with no luck:

TABLE FILE sheetName
PRINT
STORE_NUMBER
...
BY ...
ON TABLE PCHOLD AS "Exp_Drug_Credits for <STORE_NUMBER" FORMAT EXL2K

Does anyone know of a way to grab a value from a request and make it available in the output's desired file name?

Thanks in advance!

Using ON TABLE SET COMPOUND BYTOC and the RC bursting feature will have each file name's suffix with the first BY field. In your case it should be the store number.
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT RETAIL_COST
BY COUNTRY
BY CAR
ON TABLE PCHOLD AS "Exp_Drug_Credits" FORMAT EXL2K
ON TABLE SET COMPOUND BYTOC
END

Hope this help

We also just found out that in the schedule, under task, you can use '%BURST' in the Save Report As: filename
 Exp_Drug_Credits for '%BURST'

It just dawned on me that this is the solution to countless previous questions about adding a parameter to the output name ( save report as ) issue in the Report Caster...

...just add a dummy BY-field NOPRINT with the desired ( dynamic ) filename to all rows. Check "Burst Report" and you're done. Wink

Is there also a way to not have the file name burst out? It appears to me that there has been a change with WF 8, since previously the file name was not added and it was only the burst value itself?
