Thanks for stopping by to read this.
I am converting a FEX from FOCUS and have encountered some problems:
1. I decided to add a prompt that was quite long and found that it truncated at 80 characters. Is this a known limitation?
2. A prompt from old FOCUS stored its value to a double-amper variable &&SETTHIS. It didn't recognize it as a prompt unless I made it a single-amper variable &SETTHIS.
3. Can a prompt include another amper variable? I want to read a date from another FEX (no problem) and include it in the prompt. "Is 09/30/2004 in XYZ FEX correct?" -PROMPT &DATESOK.Is the date &THISDATE in FRISMOD correct, Y OR N?.
Assistance gratefully received.

While I don't have much use for PROMPT in WebFOCUS, give the .EVAL a try:

-PROMPT &DATESOK.Is the date &THISDATE.EVAL in FRISMOD correct, Y OR N?.

Thanks Pietro, but the .eval truncates the prompt at that point instead of displaying the date.

I'm not sure why, but the default prompt page you get from webfocus puts maxlength=75 in the input tag. Create your own HTML launch page or use Resource Layout.

Thanks! I suspect there is a real restriction on prompt length if the default is 75 characters. I just didn't understand why my prompt wouldn't work and now I do. I'll just keep the prompts shorter for now. At least we have another stumbling block explained as we convert 2 zillion mainframe FOCUS files over to WEBFOCUS.
OK it's not 2 zillion, it just feels like it with time pressures...Again, many thanks for your time.
