Hi,

I need to generate a simple report where I'm using a compute field for calculation of different row values. Here is how the dataset looks like

STORE METRIC          COL1 COL2 COL3
1234  CLAIMS           10    20   30
1234  NGCNT            10    20   40
1234  SALES            10    20   30
1234  SALES PER CLAIM  10    20   30
1357  CLAIMS           10    20   30
1357  NGCNT            10    20   40
1357  SALES            10    20   30
1357  SALES PER CLAIM  10    20   30

I'm creating a 6th column which is a computed column(TOTAL) that will bring sum of COL1 COL2 COL3 for each row.

Problem is the above logic should occur for CLAIMS,NGCNT,SALES which is sum (COL1 COL2 COL3). That said, for SALES PER CLAIM row the logic is different, formula for this is
(sales/ claims). I should get the report like below.

STORE METRIC          COL1 COL2 COL3  TOTAL
1234  CLAIMS           10    20   30   60
1234  NGCNT            10    20   40   70
1234  SALES            10    20   30   60
1234  SALES PER CLAIM  10    20   30    1
1357  CLAIMS           10    20   30   60
1357  NGCNT            10    20   40   70
1357  SALES            10    10   10   30
1357  SALES PER CLAIM  10    20   30    2

If you see in the above output the "SALES PER CLAIM" row value for the column "TOTAL" has value which is came out from the formula (sales/Claims).

How can we achieve the sum of the row values for each metric and at the same time specifically for "SALES PER CLAIM" row a different value based on the formula(sales/Claims) in a single computed column

Thanks!

TABLE FILE xxxx
PRINT COL1 COL2 COL3
COMPUTE TOTCL/I6 = IF METRIC EQ 'CLAIMS' THEN COL1+COL2+COL3 ELSE TOTCL; NOPRINT
COMPUTE TOTSL/I6 = IF METRIC EQ 'SALES' THEN COL1+COL2+COL3 ELSE TOTSL; NOPRINT
COMPUTE COL4/I6 = IF METRIC EQ 'SALES PER CLAIM' THEN TOTCL/TOTSL ELSE COL1+COL2+COL3;
BY STORE
BY METRIC
END

I suggest one change to GamP's post above:

COMPUTE TOTCL/I6 = IF METRIC EQ 'CLAIMS' THEN COL1+COL2+COL3 ELSE LAST TOTCL; NOPRINT
COMPUTE TOTSL/I6 = IF METRIC EQ 'SALES' THEN COL1+COL2+COL3 ELSE LAST TOTSL; NOPRINT
COMPUTE COL4/I6 = IF METRIC EQ 'SALES PER CLAIM' THEN TOTCL/TOTSL ELSE COL1+COL2+COL3;
