We have WebFOCUS server that runs in the virtual environment. Everthing is installed on one box. We are going to move the server to different location and IP address will be changed. Server name will remain the same.

What things do I need to update to prevent any issues after the move?
Are there any specific ports that need to be open?

How? It is server move and only thing that is going to change is the IP Address. Are there lots of changes that needs to be done in WF for it?

It should be ok as long as your DNS gets updated quickly and you have only referenced the server in the client by server name and not IP.

I inherited this box so everything was already installed. Where can I go to check and see if the server is referenced as the server name in the client.

One other thing to remember is if there are any new routers/firewalls inbetween the server and the users of the box, they may need to be updated with port and routing info.

That will be defined in the odin.cfg file.

This file exists in: {install drive}\ibi\srv7x\wfs\etc

The location may change depending on how the install was done.

On the client, go to the Administration Console > Reporting Servers.

Generally with a virtual server the disk drives are virtual network drives except for the operating system. Have the same disk mount point attached to the new virtual box. Off shift shut down the old box and bring up the new. Of course the reason for doing all this off **** is to test.

If you are using a local DNS to provide user friend names e.g. financialreports everything should be fine. If you are having people use the server name you may have to have people flush the cache IP address on the machines. The “DOS window” command I remember is
dfsutil /pktflush /spcflush
But we when to DSN names quite a while ago, so I may not have it right.

move was successfull. Only thing that was left were the ports that needed to be opened.
