I'm using Dev Studio 5.33. I have Win XP Pro. At work, in the office, I have no problem. But when I work at home, using dialup, I can no longer get to our EDASERVE server under WebFOCUS Environments.

At home, when dialing in, I can get to our server using Internet Explorer and using Windows Explorer. I just can't get to it in Dev Studio. I had this problem last year and IBI helped me by telling me about IE settings. That lasted for a few months, but now I'm back to getting the "access denied" error message when I click on the WF Environment for our server. I've talked to our sys admin, but he thinks it's something I did on my computer at home. Other than switching from Norton to McAfee Firewall (even after disabling and then uninstalling McAfee I still get "access denied") the only other thing I remember doing is now I don't have to logon to my home computer, where sometime last year I did. IBI thinks my problem is from the security on our server being too tight.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why I can’t get to our server from Dev Studio (but I can in IE and Explorer)?

Thanks,

~Mark

Mark,

A shot in the dark, but right click on the tree in Dev Studio and select properties. Select the various components - Client, Reporting Server, MRE (if you have it) etc. - and then check that the userids and passwords you have set are correct for your server accesses.

Good luck

Tony,

I am definitely in the dark about this.......

I've already checked my userid and password many times. I've tried logging on with and without prefacing my userid with my domain.

Thanks,

~Mark

Our network guy thought the problem was that my password was being cached. I found MS Article 822707 ("Access Denied" error message when you try to access remote resources). I changed UseRasCredentials=1 to UseRasCredentials=0 in my .pbk file and the next time my network password changed (which I came to realize was when I would start to get ACCESS DENIED), I didn't get ACCESS DENIED.

Thanks,

~Mark
