Hi,
Currently I'm new to Info Assist and once I open the IA I see all the master files available in the reporting server.
Is there a way to restrict the display of master files as I want to see only the specific .mas files related to Info Assist reporting.

Regards,
SAM

Your access rights will not be reflective of anyone else's. What Masters you see is dependent on your access permissions and the location of your master files. Everyone sees everything that is in Baseapp and in those application directories that have been made available to the Domains that they are allowed to access.

To add on to what Alex said, I there aren't specific master files for InfoAssist. InfoAssist is just a lightweight reporting tool with most, but not all, of the features of Developer Studio and generally uses whatever master files the users has access to.

Terry

Hi Team,

Controlling IA's list of synonyms is possible, using a combination of MRE groups, Reporting Server Access Roles, and Masterfile Privileges (the "green checkmarks").

I give it a 8/10 on level of complexity. Good luck.

Cheers,

Joey

Hi,
I was able to control them by using &IBIAPP_APP= and pass that in the IA URL which works for me.
Thanks for the valuable suggestions.

The method that Moogle suggests is the Best Practice that we suggest.

Moogle, have you had the chance to use the Reporting Server Access Control templates so you do not need to register every group on the server?

Matthew

Hi SAMM,

Customizing the applications, files etc. info in detail in this article.

Filtering Metadata in the WebFOCUS Development Tools

Matthew,

how to do this for specific users/domains?
Eg:-
USERS - U1, U2 has the permission to access the domain TEST,SAMPLE and their associated APP names are TESTING(3 masters), SAMPLING(10 masters).[BASEAPP(100 masters) by default].

I want the USER U1 to see only 3 masters(excluding baseapp files) from TESTING when accessing the domain TEST. And, the same USER U1 able to see 110 masters(including baseapp files) when accessing the domain SAMPLE.

Please, help me to get rid from this.

Thanks,
Rifaz

Rifaz,
I do not think you could accomplish this prior to a WebFOCUS 7705 Reporting Server and client. In that or in WebFOCUS 8 you can use a combination of the green check marks mentioned above and setting the APP PATH on the domain.

As you mentioned and are OK with BASEAPP files would show up in both places. You could change this in the future if needed by using a different directory than baseapp for your common files.

Matthew

Thanks Matthew, I remembered now, it is possible in WF8 with 7705 Server & above. Worked with Sherwin on WF8 Security Training, when i was in Amtex. Now, moved to other concern & playing role as Developer(which is NEW to me) Wink

SAMM, mark as SOLVED if you get the answer.

Thanks,
Rifaz

Hi Joey,

Can you help me or provide any documentation or link which can guide how to achieve the goal of "Controlling IA's list of synonyms". I am also in need of this. Does it works in version 7.6.11 ?

Thanks,
Sagar
