I sat in on an IBM event today where they showed there new webquery tool that they are touting as an improvemnt on the query/400 application.

It IS webfocus, except they changed developer studio to 'developer workbench'. I didn't see much different about it.

Webfocus is going to see a bigger audience now with this I think. There's a lot of folks running the IBM iSeries but didn't have any way to display data easily, but now IBM is putting there logo on Webfocus and selling it directly.

I didn't see any reportcaster and didn't see a view builder application, but otherwise it looks exactly the same!

Any thoughts on this new product? anyone using it yet?
Is anyone here running webfocus off of iSeries data like we are?

I thought that people knew about this joint venture with IBM? I first heard about it around Summit time (I think).

It has the potential to vastly improve things for folks with iSeries and provides a larger market place for people like me Smiler

So, what do you think: less or more bugs in WebQuery?

considering webquery is free for folks who have a license for query/400, we're going to put in on our iseries.

I'll let you know how it works.

its beyond cool, imho, that ibm have replaced their own green screen query tool with wf.
and they're the folks who invented the green of green screen. and since the 400 has the largest audience, the most boxes of all their boxes, this just ought to be a huge success. It means that if you want to run caster on a server to read db2 data on the 400 and bring down data and build your site, you already have eda on the as400, you don't need to buy a separate license. wicked!
Where did you see the presentation, Jason?

When I saw this yesterday, I emailed our Finance dept to give them a heads-up. They didn't know about but are going to investigate. They seemed somewhat excited about the possibilities.

susannah, I saw it in wichita, ks. we're close with our IBM salesperson and he stopped by my office so I could give him a quick rundown on query optimization on the iSeries before his sales presentation and to compare webquery to webfocus and he said they are "EXACTLY the same", his presentation proved that.

what does this mean?
