We have recently upgraded to windows 7, which required a re-install of dev studio.
Since the re-install MR admins can no longer see Managed Reporting in Dev Studio. This is now stopping us promoting code up to the portal in dev studio.

Our install was as following
Dev Studio 7703
Dev Studio HotFix 5
Local Report Server upgrade to 7705

We can log into MR admin fine and we can log into Report Server (8121) fine, so I do not believe it to be a server issue.
This seems to be more of a local config issue that is stopping us connecting.

FYI we have single sign on enabled and use Active Directory as our authorisation/authentication.

This was all working prior to the re-installation.

I've tried raising this via InfoResponse but we've not found any solution to this so far.
Just wondered if anyone else had encountered this at all?

Make sure that your WebFOCUS IIS server name is a trusted site in your IE Internet Options. This is an issue with Single Sign On that is pretty common, but isn't well called out in the documentation.

As dev studio uses IE internally to connect to MRE this is a critical step in getting SSO to work in the windows world.

Apologies, I was out of the office yesterday. I will check out the trusted sites to see if this helps any further. Will let you know...

Trusted sites didn't make any difference. We went down this route when setting up SSO originally.

Just to confirm the checks we've done so far
- Trusted sites are ok
- IE browser settings are ok
- Dashboard access is fine
- Access to MR admin console is fine
- Access to report server (8121) is fine
- C:\ibi\DevStudio77\srv77\profiles\admin.cfg has been amended to ensure my id is used

Dev Studio behaves as if I do not have MR admin access. This leads me to believe that my logon credentials for the MR is not being used.

Is there a file that dictates the logon that is passed to MR via Dev Studio?

Mike, please let us know how you sign-in in DevStudio. At one SSO client we had to add a DLL to DevStudio that gave us a different (from the default ones I suppose) authentication method. We selected this method to sign-in, then had to go back and select None to be able to really sign-in. Convoluted, but it worked.

We have SSO set up whereby our windows account uses AD. We don't supply any logon details for our connections in Dev Studio.

web Component Authentication : None
webFOCUS client : No credentials supplied
Managed Reporting : No credentials supplied

I'm not so savvy on the configuration that was used to get SSO set up, but I can try and get these details if it helps.

We've ruled out the following so far
- Installation is correct. DevStudio 7703, HF5 and RS 7705 upgrade
- Windows 7 is not the cause as the same behaviour occurs on XP
- SSO works for MR admin, Report Server Console, BID
- EDASERVE connection in DS is working fine
- localhost is able to run once the admin.cfg file was amended to include me as
the admin
- Traces in MR Realm show that my role memberships are coming through correctly,
ie MR Admin
- The logon of the IT account that installed the product is not being used when
connecting to MR.

I have a consultant on site to get to the bottom of this. Will hopefully be able to provide an update on this soon.

Hi,

For setting up SSO with developer studio in our environment we had to configure the dssso.xml located in the bin directory for our SSO method. Then had to tell developer studio to use the one we configured. You select it in the environment settings for dev studio.

Hi Crystal

I have tried to locate the dssso.xml but cannot find it in C:\ibi or in ..\AppData\Roaming\Information Builders

Are you able to give me the location of this file on my local pc?

We do actually have SSO working...it is just the communication to MR via DevStudio that seems to be the issue.

Looks like we've found the solution!

Our security is linked to Active Directory for both authenticaion and authorisation.

The root cause was down to our the priveleges group in AD that handles mapping application folders to domains.

For Example
ibimr-priv_appname_folder1%20folder2%folder3

The name of the group should have included an = sign
ibimr-priv_appname=folder1%20folder2%folder3
Whereas the pre-win2000 name still needs to remain as
ibimr-priv_appname_folder1%20folder2%folder3

Unfortunately none of the webfocus traces picked this up, so was the main reason for why it was hard to spot.
AD set up with webfocus can be "flakey" at times so I think the traces should be enhanced in version 7.
I've been told that 8 wouldn't have this issue...but will wait and see.

Thanks guys for helping me debug this issue.
