Hi everybody,

We are using Oracle DB on Unix and WebFocus 526 on the same platform. Because of the definitions in Oracle WF is specifying Px.y field definitions in the created synonyms.
When using those synonyms in Maintain I encounter the following problem. WF Maintain is somehow turning the sorting rules for those fields: 1 is gt 2 ! This gives wrong sorting and wrong results in comparison expressions (if fielda gt fieldb).

Browsing the docs I found some topics mentioning that packed fields are not supported on 'PC platform'. I'm not sure what exactly this means and if this is still true. So I thought I first ask my fellow programers in Focal Point before making a fool out of me by opening a case.

Looking forward to any help
Roland

Hi Roland,
We have most of our data in SQL Server and Focus databases. I had to change all of the Masters to read Packed fields as a Decimal and it works like a charm. Good Luck!

Carol,

Thank you. Yes this works !

Confused
But then: why is WF specifying P and not I,F or D ? Can I make WF using those formats instead of P, while creating synonyms ?

Hi Roland,

That is a very good question! Maybe one for Information Builders to answer? I manually make the changes as a workaround.

Have a great day,
Carol
