Hello,

I have seen a few other topics regarding doing table reads to define & Variables. One of the issues that I have seen crop up but have not seen effectively resolved is when doing a -READ from a table, the number of characters of the string display at the beginning of the statement. Can someone please advise how to remove those numbers?

I am concatenating all rows in a table together into one row to pass to a variable which I can then use in breadcrumbs for context.

Example piece of code:

TABLE FILE CAR_DB
PRINT
COMPUTE ALL_CARS/A300 = IF CAR NE LAST CAR THEN CAR | ', '| ALL_CARS ELSE CAR;
COMPUTE A_ALL_CAR_LEN/I3 = ARGLEN(300, ALL_CARs, 'I3'); NOPRINT
BY TOTAL HIGHEST 1 A_ALL_CAR_LEN
ON TABLE HOLD AS 'HOLD' FORMAT ALPHA
ON TABLE SET HOLDLIST PRINTONLY
END
-RUN
-READ HOLD &CAR_VAR.A300.
-TYPE &CAR_VAR

With this piece of code, I get something like "232Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi"

Can someone advise how to remove the characters that are generated via the alpha file?

I have tried using -READFILE with little success. When I use -READFILE, no & Variables are defined.

Thanks in advance for your time with this!

-Brandon
