Hi,

Can I call a Java API from a FOCEXEC on the reporting server?

If so, please post the sample code.

Cheers,
Mohan

Hi Mohan,

The following topic from Information Builders' online documents may be of interest:

Calling a JAVA Class as a Stored Procedure

To learn more Java with WebFOCUS, another recommendation will be to take a course with Information Builders. Here is one recommended:

Integrating Java with WebFOCUS

Hope this helps. Big Grin

Cheers,

Maybe this will help. This works on AIX. From the Focexec, call a Unix shell script. The shell script then calls the Java API. To call the Unix shell scrip, use syntax ! shellscr.sh
The ! starts an operating system command. In the shell script set the java_home path and then call your Java API as follows:
JAVA_HOME="/usr/java14"
$JAVA_HOME/bin/java com.adhoc.email.EmailApplication

Here EmailApplication is my Java API

Not sure what functions you want to invoke, but there are a few functions avaialble inside the WebFOCUS expression language. For example, DSTRUN will tell the distribution server to RUN a job.

Mohan,

I'm not entire sure what you want to do. However, I have been able to call a Javascript function which then calls a Java API. Google LiveConnect, javascript, java for the details.
