06APR1990 is in Alpha 9 format

If this field is in a non-FOCUS file, look up DATEPATTERN.
    FIELDNAME=DATE, ALIAS=DATE, USAGE=YYMD, ACTUAL=A9,

converts '06APR1990' to 1990/04/06.
